I honestly cant imagine closing off lakes. I guess the problem would be the number of people on your boat if we are still dealing with these rules at that time. Tgrace thankfully reminded me that TRL does have one marina with self serve gas. So hopefully for us if they do start to close down marinas maybe we can still fill up.....

The only other restriction might be how many folks are in your boat.

I am praying the warm weather slows this thing down. The lake is much safer than packed beaches.

Mr. Nauti might love it if only me, him and the dog can be on the boat. Means he doesn't have to spend every weekend with my crazy family!

At our marina there is a RV park, and people who live on their boats. For that reason I don't think it's feasible for them to restrict access to the docks. I suppose worst case is they close the ramps and don't permit people to take their boats out of the slips. If that happened wed hopefully still be able to go to the boat in the slip and swim off the back. Who knows though.

I don't see any advantage to closing a lake. Perhaps closing the ramps as suggested or perhaps monitoring distances while launching/retrieving. I'm trying to think if I've ever really been within 10ft of another person at a ramp while launching or retrieving outside of the people that rode there with me. Marinas kind of fall into the same bucket.....if you stay on your own boat, you're going to probably meet the requirements for social distancing.

Now, for a bigger question--for those who travel extensively on business, we are obviously restricted right now, but yet, business is still being conducted. Same with schools....to some extent via home schooling. Will/could this cause a fundamental shift in how we move forward with our daily practices? We got communication today internally that even though it said "don't travel and be safe", the underlying tone was more of everything being a nuisance vs a necessity if you read between the lines. In no uncertain terms, if you need to stay home because of a family member or illness you burn your vacation, then go on unpaid leave. Your health benefits will not stop, but life insurance and long term disability stop after 30 days. Upon returning to work, you will need to cut a check to catch up on your insurance. I get it, but it's hard to actually read it in black and white.

It's a fact of life when you're owned by a venture capital company. Fortunately, they have let local management make the calls---albeit slowly and not assertively.

Yeah thats bad precedent.....is the lakes shoreline entirely owned by the corp? Including marinas? I would guess (read hope) that marinas not on or attached directly to corp shoreline are still ok. Or if a marina on noncorp land would allow public access to their ramp?

If I'm not mistaken, Lake Mead is run by National Park Service. A quick google search shows that they have been closing different areas over the past few days.

With Marina’s closing as non essential it will leave an obvious impact.
I have a marina that is self serve with pay at the pump. So, that is available 24/7. Love that!!

But, if we progress to a state-wide shelter in place that requires proof of why you are out, it would be hard to justify a drive to the lake. My wife is a home care nurse and she has a special letter that she carries around if we get to that point and she gets pulled over.

Yes, Lake Mead is a National Recreation Area, similar to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (Lake Powell) and is run by the NPS.

Last weekend too many people went to Lake Mead to hike etc. and they want to discourage that going forward.
