Re: Truck question
On boys and girl. We were at the 2019 Ram 2500 reveal today here in Vegas. This bad boy I hate to say it looks the best out of the big three with a crazy towing capacity. They are even making the tmps read trailer tires. The Collison avoidance system works with the trailer brakes and a trailer behind you. And for us really short guys its low and easy to get in then previous years.

Good looking and awesome features, but the jury’s still out for me “shallow Hal” lolBig Block Power wrote: Thu Feb 14, 2019 12:36 am On boys and girl. Re: Truck question
Hmm.. I think I actually like the Chevy more. I never have been much of a fan of the LED brackets on the front of of a Ford.
I still think I'll probably find a low mile 15 or 16 Denali diesel and thump it in the head.

Re: Truck question
Anything new sometimes just isn’t visually comfortable as we tend to base things off what we are used to seeing.
I’ve been through so many GM model changes that make me cringe at first sight...Then becomes the new “ ahhhhh.... that’s bad ass “ a few months later.
Give it time as they grow on you! Hopefully

Re: Truck question
It's not a bad looking truck, and I have always been partial to the Cummins power plant, but Chrysler build quality scares me. I have this fear that the truck may fall apart around the engine.Big Block Power wrote: Thu Feb 14, 2019 12:36 am On boys and girl. We were at the 2019 Ram 2500 reveal today here in Vegas. Need to see them in person but I think Ford over Dodge by a very slim margin then GM about 1000 miles behind. Dodge is really stepping up their game in the looks and interior department. If nothing else it will force Ford to get off their ass and catch up.

Re: Truck question
Ram is catching GM fast. It won't be long Maybe even this year. Ford isn't that far ahead. Fca is coming up fast. Jeep has been on fire.

Re: Truck question
They had a Ram Cummings on display at the STL boat show last week. Beautiful truck and was loaded on the inside. I looked at the window sticker and my jaw about hit the floor. Trucks are so freaking expensive.

Re: Truck question
I know, right? What is even scarier is the resale after they leave the lot. I am always amazed at someone that buys a brand new vehicle every year or two. The depreciation hit is HUGE in those first two years! I see it every day...
If you buy a year or two old the value will even out over time and use. Buy 3 or 4 years back and it's even more so, but it's hard to overcome that "new" smell! I can dig it, just not for my tightasssness.

Re: Truck question
Trucks are stupid expensive but a lot of that is because they have become luxury cars with a bed in the back. If I could do it all over again I would buy a truck designed to do truck things - Stripped down XL /w the STX package - used it to tow the boat and then had a car to do car things like massage my butt while I am driving to work and back.tgrace98 wrote: Thu Feb 14, 2019 8:27 am They had a Ram Cummings on display at the STL boat show last week. Yep this thought has been crossing my mind for the new boat. 6 more payments and my 4 year old Maxima will be mine. I'd love a few times a year to load the R7 up on a trailer and go explore Bulll Shoals lake. It is a lot like table rock just not built up. But I'd need a diesel for that. An R7 on a trailer with fuel and gear has to be pushing 8-9000lbs.

Re: Truck question
Don't discount the gas 3/4 ton option. I get it, diesels are cool, they are also about a 10k option on a new truck and have higher overall maintenance costs as compared to engines /w spark plugs.tgrace98 wrote: Thu Feb 14, 2019 8:59 amNautiGirl wrote: Thu Feb 14, 2019 8:45 amTrucks are stupid expensive but a lot of that is because they have become luxury cars with a bed in the back. A F250 /w the 6.2L V8 or if you want to get fancy the new 7.3L would tow the R7 without a problem at all and would save you some coin in both purchase price as well as overall ongoing costs.
But I get it - diesels are cool.

Another solid option is to just rent a truck for the couple trips. Enterprise Truck Rental will happily give you a F250 or 2500 for $100 a day and even encourage you to tow /w it. Good option if you are only moving the boat a few times a year. This is how we got the boat to the lake, for $100 it was way more comfortable than using our truck.

Yeah you might be right on the rentals. I just remembered I did that a few years ago to tow my old Baja 272 down to table rock. I pulled it once down there with an F150 and about killed myself going up and down the hills so I said never again.
Like Sailor when we go to the lake we have a ton of stuff with us and the dog so even with a crew cab it would be hard to fit all our stuff. So that is why we bought a GMC Acadia for our lake taxi. But obviously that will not pull anything boat wise for us.

Re: Truck question
Sad to say, but those aren't sneakers. That's the new trend in dress shoes...nice leather on top and a white sole. They are supposed to be super comfortable, but I personally don't get it.cmattj wrote: Thu Feb 14, 2019 7:06 amGood looking and awesome features, but the jury’s still out for me “shallow Hal” lolBig Block Power wrote: Thu Feb 14, 2019 12:36 am On boys and girl. Re: Truck question
The Ram is still the same truck, but with a refresh.
The Chevy? Yeah, umm, no. It’s a duck.
Yeah, trucks are very expensive, but retail prices are always climbing which insures solid resale. Diesels are expensive, but the actual cost of ownership isn’t much more than gas because diesel resale is rock solid. Knowing Ford, they will surpass power/torque/towing capabilities when their numbers are released.
Ford lowered the 250, but the 350 remains the same height.

Re: Truck question
.
Maybe you folks want to try pulling (or stopping
) your new 20,000 pound boat (hitch) or 35,000 pounder (fifth wheel & gooseneck) with the Atlis XT Pickup truck due out next year?
It certainly puts up some impressive (if not lofty
) stats. Time will tell...
