Unknown part/door Cobalt 243 Cuddy 2013

Post by IGate »

Dear Cobalt Community

I bought a used 243 Cuddy and I found kind of a "door" beside the engine. Please find attached two pictures. Is this something from cobalt or aftermarket? Do you know for what? Unfortunately it doesn't fit at all.

I guess it's probably a stupid question, please excuse. Unfortunately the previous owner can't help.

Thanks a lot and best regards,
Luca

That "door" is actually a base, used inside the netting that you have it pictured by. Open that netting up, and use that plastic piece as the bottom. It allows a hard surface to stack items on and in that cubby, but also allows drainage. The little cutout that has the additional plastic semi-circle pieces attached to it goes UP, and that's where your ski pylon is to be stored.

We like to store our life jackets and pool noodles in that area on our 242. Most of the time, because of the good airflow, and the heat from the engine, our life jackets are almost dry by the time we make it home.

EDIT:
I was able to find a picture of my 242 where you can just barely see the edge of that part, to give you an idea of how it should lay in that compartment. Look in the upper RH side of this picture. You can see my ski pylon sitting in the recessed area.

Just picked up a 243 on Friday, and just like Nauti Weasel advised- that is a platform that slides into the netting on the port side of the engine. Mine has clips on it to secure the towing pylon and anchor light on it.
