New Member from over the pond

Post by Richard »

Greetings, I’ve been using your site for so much info over the last year - it’s a great resource - but have been slow to register :(. Took ownership of a 2014 232 in Sept 2020 and have just had my first season in it this year. The boat is based in beautiful Dartmouth, England, dry-stacked just upriver on the River Dart. I don’t know how many 232 owners there are in the UK - not that many I guess.

Anyway, I have a quick question. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to clean the tonneaus? Mine could do with a giant washing machine but that’s not going to happen. Just a hose and a broom?

Keep up the great work/chat - incredibly useful.

Cheers

Welcome to the cult! Awesome pic of the castle too. Great riding hull, higher up and fancy. Soft bristle brush, even a paint brush, bucket of soapy water. Retreat the water repellant on the fabric.

BTW, what’s she got under the bonnet for propulsion?

Cheers mate!

I use 303 protectant and cleaner. I blast it in my driveway that is clean. House it down spray on the cleaner and use my clean push broom. Works great. Then rinse it off let it dry then apply the protectant. Others use a large washer but I'm not that wild about that. Just me.
Congrats. Great boat!

Hey Richard. So glad you found us!

Great pics my friend. Very unique boat to have across the pond. Thanks for representing the Cobalt brand in the UK!

I've thrown our tonneau in the washing machine and have also cleaned using oxyclean and a brush. Both work well.

No matter what, I treat with 303 fabric treatment after I'm done cleaning.

Keep the pics comin'. And welcome aboard mate!

Thanks so much guys. Will get the 303 protectant and may have to bring the tonneaus home where at least the ground is clean.

I just have the standard MAG 350 but the boat seems very quick. I nudged towards full throttle last week on a nearly calm sea and it was reading 55 mph but I would need to get a GPS reading, and had I left it longer the reading may have stabilized. Anyway it’s quick enough for me..

Thanks again for all your help.

Welcome and thanks for the pics. We almost bought a 232, but it was white with thin yellow stripe and covers. Wife didn't like the yellow.
Great looking boat and scenery.

Haha, I didn’t even notice the linguistic adjustment. Bonnet is absolutely right.

Great pics! I looked up where you are on the map and it looks beautiful.

We have a bit of the UK at our lake as well. The London Bridge, which was moved to Arizona in the late '60s. Our bridge used to span over the River Thames in London and was taken apart and moved. This year celebrated the 50th anniversary of the bridge in AZ.

We have a 232 as well.

Dartmouth is really beautiful, definitely worth coming to, about 4 hours drive SW of London. That's a great looking boat (and not a bad looking bridge :))

Great pics indeed.

Where did you get an umbrella for your 232? My wife is going to want one of those!
