Harvey

Post by Ytmsn »

My brother lives in Aransas Texas, right between Corpus and Rockport. His father in-law has lived in that area forever and seen lots of hurricanes, and wouldn't leave, so my brother and his wife boarded up the house and rode out the storm.

He said it sounded like a freight train was going through his living room for 8 hours. It never let up for 8 HOURS! He said at one time his walls were flexing in and out about 4 inches. He just knew his house was about to blow away..

The next morning he told Pop "That was my first and last hurricane party. This ever happens again we're OUTTA HERE.

He has some roof damage, an outbuilding and carport blew away, and tons of trees and limbs down. But his house is standing with no flooding. Most folks got wiped out. The city of Rockport was hit hard. It was so bad, the mayor of Aransas told everyone to write their names and SS numbers on their arms so they could be identified. Can you imagine?!!

Lots of cleanup to come. I'll probably be heading down there soon. I offered to go this weekend but my brother told me to hold off for now. We'll see..

Yep,

I've had a couple staying here in Austin with me who had to evacuate due the flooding and river crest in Houston.

They arrived looking like they had been thru the wringer. Worn out!

I do a lot of work in Houston and lived there for 8 years. I feel for those guys and everyone else that has had to deal with Harvey.
