Does this trailer make my boat look big?

Post by Stagdad »

I saw this R30 ? , sitting in a parking lot the other day. Besides not having tie down straps on the stern, I thought it looked a little wide for the trailer. What say you?

After the last black eye I am not inclined to answer questions of this nature.

That would make me pucker going any distance outside a ramp or yard. Might be a shadow, but it looks like the front left tire on the trailer is doing a heavy flex on the turn for sure.

I would not use that trailer to tow my R30 around the block. The R30 needs a triple axle trailer that is for a 9.5 wide beam. 10,000 lbs minimum.

That looks like a double axle trailer for a 8 foot beam boat.

Any load over 8'6" is considered over width and requires a permit to move. There are a few exceptions, but I'd check with your local DOT before going too far.

Look, I'm not one to call out anyone directly, but I will say the fact the the person towing the boat isn't using a RAV4 concerns me a little.

Trailers either roll or they don't, right?

Tongue in cheek here guys...

Correction, that is not an R30. Looks more like a 302. Nice boat

The Rav4 is just out of the frame, towing the pickup, obviously :ugeek:

I have a triple axle trailer for my 282... magic tilt it's 102" wide and has a 9000 pound load capacity.
Trailer only weights 965 pounds (aluminum)

The tires when making tight turns, do flex a TON.... I upgraded to 15" wheels

https://magictilt.com/aluminum-trailer/ ... -aluminum/

My boat beam is 9' and my dry weight is 7850 pounds. Add oil and fuel and kid gear and I am getting close to weight limit.

I only tow 3 times a year, once to put it in, once to pull it out, and once to any off season maintenance.

I have an annual $40 permit that allows me to two up to 9-6 wide (guide posts) on trailer.
