Safe Passenger capacity question
Recently purchased a 2005 24SX. Capacity plate on the boat claims 15 passengers or 2035#.
This weekend I plan on taking out 7 adults, 1 five year old and two 2 year olds. I'd estimate the passenger weight at 1500# tops.
This is my first season boating. A very good friend has been boating his whole life. He feels that I'm asking way too much of the boat when also factoring in fuel weight + gear (which is pretty much a couple of coolers of food and some tubes to float on).
Our plans are just a quick cruise around the lake and then just anchoring on a sandbar to swim.
Max I've had out so far is four adults and two kids. So, say 60% of the weight I'm planning on this Sunday. Barely felt burdened at all with that amount of people.
I think the boat can more than handle what I'm asking it to do Sunday.
What say you?

Your perfectly fine. I've had 10 on my boat no issues.
And I've had 7 adults a few weeks ago. No issues. Your fine. Drive it like you stole it

Yeah may just take a little longer to get on plane but you should be good!
I have a good story about that one that TGrace will probably remember

I’ve had 12 adults in our R5 with no problems. Yeah its a little tight but the boat handles the weight just fine. With a 380 and trim tabs its still jumps up on plane easily! It’s rated for 14 people but I’m not sure about the weight.

You'll be fine. I have a 2 year old and a 4.5 year old. Get some extra good snacks (candy, fritos, a lunchable) for the kids that they don't have to share to eat while under way and they usually stay seated while you are cruising.

That I did. Zero issues. Obviously a bit slower to plane and about 7 mph slower at the top end, but clearly well within it's capabilities. I'm pleased. Being able to take out this group of ten family members was a big part of my decision to get this boat.Big Block Power wrote: Wed Aug 12, 2020 7:22 pm Your perfectly fine.
