2007 252 Full Cover

Post by Tuono »

Thought I would post this one for input. My 252 came with a full new Sunbrella cover. Problem is snaps are attached to rub rail and anytime it rubs against docks I’m replacing the damaged aluminum snaps. I struggle to spend $ for separate bow and cockpit covers. Was thinking of maybe moving snaps up an inch and attach directly to hull and shorten the cover for good fit but not sure it makes sense. Any input appreciated.

Never seen snaps put ON the run rail...who would think that’s a good idea? I see IL Reg, are you on the Chain? Looks like the river. If so take it to Canvas Works and see if they can adjust it to snap above the rib rail. This is how mine was made for reference. I hate the 1 piece cover personally, my next will be bow and cockpit covers.

Yes I’m on the lower river! I believe they’re on 59 right? Crazy, I’ve never seen it attached to rub rail either. Wonder if they can convert it to 2 piece bow/cockpit cover. Thanks man!

Yep, he’s done several boats in my neighborhood including my last one. He does great work and very fair pricing. Don’t bother trying to get the one piece made into two, I asked. It’s cheaper just to have new ones made. Only complaint I had was he tried talking me into a one piece, as well as a couple others in the neighborhood. Had me convinced until my Wife talked some sense into me, lol.

They used the rub rail screw holes to mount the snaps. This way there are no holes in the boats fiberglass. Its actually genius if you ask me. Buy some more bumpers and use a method of securing your boat to the dock so it cant hit.
