New Boat cover
New Boat cover
Hi,
Great answers last week so I will ask another question.
On my 1995 220, I am in need of a new cover and would like opinions as to which way to go. Currently have a 2 piece that connects with snaps below the windshield (and always leaks a bit when it rains). I do not trailer the boat, but boat is at the dock for about 4-5 months.
I have a quote through dealer for new custom made 1 piece for $2300. This seems high, but I am not sure and am waiting for some other quotes.
Do folks recommend a 1 piece? Is there a better way to go other than custom made?
Thanks for the help.

Re: New Boat cover
I would go 1 piece. Email baldMikes.com
He sells Westland covers. Good reviews on them.
Custom I would think $1500.00

Re: New Boat cover
It’s personal preference. I like the separate bow and cockpit covers, especially for putting on in the water. If you have new ones made have the cockpit cover at the windshield overlap the bow cover. That’s how mine were made and it never leaked into the boat even in the heaviest rain.
I have a one piece snap cover now, don’t care for it. Not only is it super bulky and cumbersome to work with, it’s impossible to put on by yourself and would be a nightmare to put on with the boat in a slip.
Price wise, your quote seems high, but it depends on the area. I paid $1200 for the last set of bow/cockpit covers.

Re: New Boat cover
I cannot recommend Aurora Canvas enough. The Aqualon fabric is great, and holds up well. Del goes above and beyond what is expected, and you can send them the cover in the future for spot repairs as needed (cheaply).dustinm wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 8:12 pm This is our quote from Aurora Canavas. I do have one not fair complaint....they are 1k miles away from me other wise I would use them. You are lucky they are close for you as they seem top notch.JTinMO wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2020 9:58 amI cannot recommend Aurora Canvas enough. The Aqualon fabric is great, and holds up well. Re: New Boat cover
If they have the pattern for your boat don't worry. It will work great. They save all the patterns for every cover made. And they do go out of there way to work with The Harbor on Table Rock to find the same boat to use to test fit. For my 232 they were scouring all the folks on Table Rock to find a 232 there they could use to take measurements, and ultimately couldn't find one. I then took my boat to them and let them have it for the week.
I did not take my first boat to them to have a cover made, and the cover they made fit like a glove. It was not standard and had a trolling motor on the bow as well. With that cover Del said they would make any adjustments needed if something was off, and there were no issues.
