210 docking lights

Post by BobKat »

Hey everyone. I have a 2012 210 with the docking light option. Looking to replace one burned out bulb. Will probably replace both. They are standard MR16 50 watt halogen landscape bulbs with G5.3 pin connectors. Any reason i wouldn't be able to use LED replacements? Because they're 12v I don't think there is any transformer involved and the interior lights are already LED but not sure if anything else would be an issue.

Thanks
Bob

There are definitely LED replacement bulbs that will be a better bet - draw less power, run cooler, etc.. Many here have already made the change (whether they had burned out bulbs or not).

I've noticed some bulbs are rated for outdoor use and others aren't but I don't know how much real difference there would be for putting it in an enclosure like a docking light. And remember that they have different color temperatures - all the way from 2700k or so that looks like a traditional "yellow" incandescent bulb up or 3000k which is pretty close to a halogen to 6000k and beyond that become increasingly bluish.

Hey bobkat. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. Thanks for coming out out of the woodwork after almost two years here!

Yes, easy upgrade process for your docking lights. I did mine last year. No transformers needed anymore.

Thanks guys. Yes, I've been Rip Van Winkle with too much going on. I'll be hitting the buy now button on Amazon for the LED's.
Thanks again.
