New style Swim Platform with fold out step

Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit one of the newer swim platforms in place of a 2005 model? I know getting one could be a trick. Or where to get one?

It would be alot of work us out could be done. I'll say getting back onto some of these boats with just the Step and no ladder is not as easy as it looks. The 220s was much easier then a R7 because it takes less weight to get the rear end to sink into the water.

I think it would be possible. The early swim step platforms were attached to the transom with brackets. So maybe yours could unbolt and new one with the swim step could be bolted back on.

In 2011 the 10 series starting having the swim step platform as an option and that could possibly work on the 2005 220. I would give Cobalt a call and ask them. Basically, is the geometry of the stern on the 2005 220 such that the existing swim platform could be detached from the stern and a 2011 or later 10 series swim platform step be bolted on. The bolt hole pattern on the stern probably doesn't match, but it just might. If so, you would need to either see if Cobalt will sell you one through a dealer or you'll be looking for a used one (which will be difficult and probably involves getting a donor boat on Copart and they're expensive).

Also, people wonder why the swim step platforms seem harder to get up on. It depends on your model. My 273 had the integrated swim platform (standard) that was part of the deck and then the swim step platform (optional) was beyond that and supported by large brackets. The swim step platform was lower to the water than the integrated swim platform and yes was easier to get up on. Wherever the swim step was optional, it would have been part of a bolt on swim platform that was closer to the water line. In the The R7, the swim step became standard and is integrated into the deck and is higher above the water. It's a cleaner look but yes is harder to get up on for some because it's higher above the water line. I think a well placed handle or cutout in the swim platform to grab on to would help.

I tried to help a buddy with a friend 200 get a swim platform off a 210 and I had a ton of pictures. The transom has a diff shape the baskets are at a diff width. All could be modified. Our big issue was getting a dealer to sell us one because they do it by hin number and his was too old and it was past the 7 year mark and they wouldn't sell it to us. I even had a current hin and they still wouldn't. So buying one can be a larger issue. Maybe your dealer will buy I tried 2 by me and no luck.
