New member in NW Arkansas

Post by KP01 »

HI!! I just picked up a brand new (to me) 2001 262. It seems to have been cared for, but has been neglected for the last year and a half (divorces are fun). Looking forward to getting her back to her former glory. She's got the 7.4 Volvo, no arch  ,rear filler cushions, and a really nice factory 2012 trailer.

Welcome from Austin, TX. Glad to have you onboard. Boat looks to be in good shape. She should clean up nicely with a little TLC. You’ll get lots of help if you need any advice.

Welcome from St. Louis/table rock lake. And welcome to the 260 series club. We have at least a hand full of owners with this same model. You are going to love it once you get her cleaned up.

PS more pics please 😀

Welcome from California. Looks like she’ll come back great.! And the fact you mentioned rear filler cushions you must know how special that can be! And teak will look great after you do the 3 step starbrite cleaner , brightner and finish.

Your in a great area of lakes so get some more pics up!!

Welcome from Oklahoma! Some say they 190 is the Greatest Ever. I say some (he) must have had a troubled youth and is a tad off track. And (he) has never owned a 262!

You will learn lots here. Go to maintenance and storage and pick up some good cleaning and polishing tips. And the more you read the more you will begin to understand our inside jokes. Except for BBisms. None of us ever understand those.

Welcome from Wisconsin. What lake are you going to be boating on? I would try the Mequiar super degreaser or bio Kleen Amazing cleaner first on the seats with a soft brush and water and clean away.

Another welcome from Texas. Any pictures of the outside? Piping on the seats appears to be black. What's the color combo? Get her on the water and get more pics. Did I mention we need more pictures?

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I will post exterior pics ASAP. Right now, she's at the body shop having a spa day with a wet sand/buff. There was a little oxidation on the hull sides that I wanted to take care of. As to color, she is white with black stripes.

tsouthard91, I may just take you up on the detail help. This boat needs some love, for sure.

Hey there! Congrats! I love teak....never had it but seen plenty and it never gets old. I know it takes work but its worth it. Anyway, great boat. Lots of owners here have similar. Sounds like shell shine up nicely.

Hey KP01, welcome to the Cobalt chat forum. So glad you found us!

Like YTMSN said, the 2000-2007 260 series hull is one of THE best hulls to ever come out of the Cobalt factory. Fast, great riding, and amazing storage space. We are on our second one.

Maguiars degreaser will work wonders on that vinyl. Follow that up with Vinyl sauce. Be careful with the threads. You can buy it on Amazon. Also search the forum. Great info here.

Once again, welcome aboard mate!
