But...communication has been terrible, from factory to dealer.

I am a long-time Cobalt guy...but the lack of communication for folks like me and others in this thread (R series orders, so serious $$$)...has not been good. We have every right to voice complaints about that.

My last update from the dealership (forwarding a message from Cobalt) was six weeks ago. Radio silence since then, with only a few months now remaining in the 2021 boat season.
I get it…At the end of the day and through the excitement and anticipation of a brand new boat, keep calm by asking yourself “can I change what I can’t control”?
No point ruining your early summer, and getting upset at something that no one can change. Easy to say, I know.

My order was placed in January 2017, pre-pandemic..It was supposed to be delivered on May 5.
Pushed back three times. Then, it sat awaiting shipment which took an additional three weeks to schedule.
Dealer never called me either, but what were they going to say other than “it’s not here”, and “we’ll call when it leaves Neodesha”.
I took possession July 2nd. All was instantly forgiven LOL.

100% agree. Communication needs to be better out of the factory.

Communication is the one thing they can control right now. They might not have the answers, but silence isn't the way to handle this. Most will be understanding of the obviously fluid situation if they have some connection via communication. I ordered March 3rd and have nothing. I don't have any idea what to expect and I'm left pestering the poor dealer every couple of weeks. Heck at this point I can't get an answer on if they will honor the price I ordered my boat at. I'm not saying Cobalt is an awful company just expressing my opinion they have room for improvement.

Does anyone expect a call from Dearborn Michigan on a new Ford order?
Will Detroit call you on the status of your new Dodge?
No manufacturer will call a retail customer with their order status. If the Cobalt plant answers your questions, feel fortunate.

Cobalt isn’t responsible to hold hands through the process. Their job is to build boats, period.
They aren’t in the retail business, and I’m sure they don’t want to get involved with one of their dealer customers.
Communication isn’t their responsibility. It does however fall on your dealer. Personally, I didn’t want to be a pest.

Tuscany is 100% correct. Of the dozens of cars and trucks I have ordered the show up when they show up. The dealer might give a build date or delivery date but they hardly ever show up when they were supposed to. Be patient, it will be worth the wait! If you walk from the deal and order another boat from another manufacturer it will be a longer wait and the end result will be inferior!

I ordered my R6 Surf on February 1st, 2021, and was told I have a July delivery date, and according to my dealer, the July date is still good as of a few weeks ago. I'm quite skeptical that it will be here this summer at all.

LOL, I wouldn’t want to be the one who tells them…😂 that it might be better and faster if they switch to snowmobile riding. .🤣🤣
Waiting sucks, and everyone wants to point their fingers of frustration and blame someone..
Truth is, in 2021, they are lucky to just have a place in line.

We’re learning first hand just how fragile our global economy really is.

No I don't expect a call directly from Cobalt. I do know two Ford dealership owners and they are receiving information from Ford so that they can set better expectations with the customers. Cobalt has selected their dealers in each market to manage the communication for their brand in those markets. When dealers don't have any information for your customer it's my opinion that's an area they could improve. That's all I'm saying and I recognize my opinion changes nothing.

We will remain patient and hopeful we will be a Cobalt owner soon.

^ Well said. Cobalt sells about 2,000 boats per year, and no one expects a personal call from Neodesha unless maybe you have a super premium A order and are a long time friend of the business. But better communication to their dealers is a reasonable thing to expect.

To be honest, with low water levels at Tahoe and the delay in my delivery, at this point I'd just be fine to wait until 2022. My buoy might be out of service by September...it is about 7' now at my buoy and declining every day.
