I know a lot of the guys on here will be able to sleep at night now knowing your not towing with a half ton
Great to hear. Glad I could help. Goes without saying the 250 tows much better than the raptor. My boat will be 6000 lbs plus 2000 for tailer. Too much for the raptor to handle safely. Getting good gas mileage with the 7.3 zilla. And liking the gas 7.3 over the 6.7 diesel I had before the raptor. Worth a look if towing a bit.

I have a 17 F350 with the 6.2 gas and a 19 F150 with the 3.5 eco boost. The 3.5 will run circles around the 6.2 so that’s good to hear the 7.3 makes good power, hopefully my next F350 will have the 7.3. The 6.2 is a slug. I would much rather pull our R5 with our F150 than the F350 with the 6.2. I hardly know the boat is behind the F150 but I do have a better than average trailer too! I wouldn’t be afraid to pull anything up to 10k with the F150 but getting above that is what the F350 is for. We won’t buy diesels anymore because our trucks run all day in our construction business and the new emissions systems can’t take all of that idling. They get extremely expensive to repair and we keep our trucks for over 200k miles and so far we can’t keep the new diesels trouble free with the life that we put them through. The gas engines may be a little slower but we abuse the heck out of them and they just keep running.

Similar situation here. Have a landscaping business. Got a bunch of work trucks at all times. Have 2 newer 150s, 3.5tt and 5.0. One is rated at max tow 13k. Not happening safely! Agree 10k limit without airbags on the 150. We tow heavy with 2x 5.7 tundras. Airbags solve the issue there. Got over 100k on one of em and no issues towing all the time. Abused. However for future will need more 2500 or 250 for we are maxing our rigs out more regularly. We got hit with a overweight ticket recently and don't want deal with that noise.

FYI- reading one company has swapped the throttle body on new 7.3 with a gt350 throttle body. Adds 120 hp without tune. Thinking about doing it. Lot of HP for couple 100 dollars. Feel the key to the 7.3 equation in terms of gas mileage and tow capability is the 10 speed. Hauled a #2000 trailer recently with large air damn and got right under 15 mpg while towing. Low rpms once up to speed. Currently averaging better MPG than the raptor. I know the 6.7 has the same tranny but feel the 7.3 is now the sweet spot.

120 HP from a simply throttle body?
Respectfully, That’s a hard one to believe without a cam swap and better flowing exhaust.

I would like to I see the dyno on that too. I bet the truck would have the dash lit up like a Christmas tree without a tune to go with it, all that extra air without any new fuel mapping. It would be nice but I bet there is more to it.

It is possible. My boys and I swapped our stock 2014 GT500 throttle body for a Ford Racing throttle body so as to not void the manufacturer’s warranty yet increase the air intake significantly. We then connected our laptop and loaded a custom performance tune. The factory 662 horsepower increased to almost 800HP as measured on the dyno.

Didn’t happen without pics so they’re posted below. In the meantime I’ll see if I can find the numbers in my files.

Ok. So couple notes I found. Below is the video. These guys are actually supercharging the 7.3 but before doing so used stock motor with a few add ons. This is beyond me with no experience modding.

7.3 stock on 98 octane. Used a balancer, the GT350 throttle, and then adjusted fuel and air with a fuel tech? More variables than just throwing a throttle on. Ended up with 550 doing the above. Not sure that is complicated or not. Neat to see they get 1000hp out of it with a supercharger. Not something I will be doing.

Thanks R6O. You made a good point about supercharged engines (vs non) having greater horsepower gains with small mods.
Honestly it was too much HP for that car as it just could not keep the power on the ground with the 285 shoes. Even the super snake had issues with the computer trying to control that power vs spinning. And as they say, if you're spinnin'....you aint winnin'. :(

Nice car! One of the owners of the comI work for has a GT350 and a super snake in the same colors as yours. His dad has a GT 500 and a super snake in black. He also has the Yellow Ford GT super car that when Ford brought the GT back it was the car they shot the commercial with. 98 octane fuel and a tune will make a big difference over just bolting on a throttle body. More air without fuel on a natural aspiratated engine is going to confuse the heck out of a stock ECU.

We retired (traded in) our 2009 F-250 diesel. Last time through the desert in the middle of nowhere the money light came on, it lost power and went into limp mode. In the middle of the Mojave desert and 115 degrees. The dealer indicated it was a fuel pump-related issue, or maybe not ($$$$$). We decided to buy a new truck, but I really didn't want a diesel this time around as I think we will eventually just leave this truck in AZ since my wife has a new Bronco on order. So, it won't be driven much after the Bronco is finally done. The new Bronco will only tow 3500lbs, so we needed something that can tow to the ramp and back plus to Lake Powell which has some steep grades and elevation to get there. We found out that it is a good time to sell or trade a truck, but a bad time to buy one if you can find one.

We decided to get a Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss with the 6.2L engine and 10-speed transmission. It has a 9300 lb. tow rating. Hooked it up to the boat on Tuesday and took it to the ramp. It seemed to pull fine. I didn't push it hard as the engine still had under 500 miles on it.
