Dip stick for lower unit
Dip stick for lower unit
Anyone know where I can acquire the dip stick bolt for the top of the Volvo DPS lower unit (8.1G)? I dropped mine in the lake
. Cobalt charges a fortune for this simple part.

For a 2009. I guess I'm not sure what you meant buy a fortune but 65 bucks seems pretty common. Don't forget the oring too.

If there is enough metal on it, you can buy a strong magnet and 'fish' for it.

Re: Dip stick for lower unit
For all the great engineering that Volvo does, I’m still amazed they don’t have a better way to check lower unit oil level. I’d never attempt it when the boat is in the water and to be honest, it’s not easy to do when in my barn on a concrete floor at home.

Part of the problem on my unit is the location of the newer swim platform & flip down step.

It's stainless steel so it would have to be stainless steel that happened to be magnetic. Some is..some isn't.Lee St.Clair wrote: Thu Feb 25, 2021 8:29 pm If there is enough metal on it, you can buy a strong magnet and 'fish' for it.
