Used Boat Pricing - R7
Used Boat Pricing - R7
Hello, new member here.
I'm looking for a 27' bowrider for Lake of the Ozarks. The R7 looks great, maybe around a 2014 model. I understand that engine size and hours are key points in pricing. Any other major price drivers? Also, I know that supply is low and probably will be into next summer, but how does pricing work on used boats. I know new boat MSRP is generally discounted 15-20% through negotiation, but not sure how this works on used, and if NADA values are reliable or not.
Thanks!

Arch or Bimini, what type of head is installed, and what it has for a sound system can also be significant differentiators. Sound system of course is most easily updated or tailored to your tastes. May want to check out a 262 or 282 as well - lots of those out there at reasonable prices in the age range you’re looking, and excellent boats.

HeyEJ5000
Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Yes, like John mentioned those other items can add up quickly. ...and definitely check out a 262 or 282. Great boats.
It’s difficult to place a used value discount on boats since they are going for ungodly prices right now due to the sellers market we are experiencing.
Is this your first boat?
Again welcome aboard mate!

EJ,
Hopefully you even have a chance to view a boat. Last summer was a crazy, most boats sold in minutes of listing at full price. Keep putting the word out there and maybe if all goes well someone will step forward with a clean R7.

Thanks everyone. Great info. This will be my first boat, but have rented smaller boats in the past. I will definitely need to practice handling the bigger boat. I’m gathering info now, so I will be “educated” when there is hopefully more available in March / April.

We usually rent at the Ozarks, but have done Table Rock as well, and fishing boats in Florida. We are looking for a family boat for tubing, coves and a little bar hopping

I think around 100k would be a good mark for a used R7. Especially the 14-16’s. 17 they had the mid model refresh with different interior vinyl, glass dash and later on in 17 volvo gen 5 motors

Depending on how it’s powered and optioned out, you could be in the 80-120 range for an R7. Sounds like you’ll need a trailer too. So budget for a good one. Cheap trailers don’t belong with nice boats.

Welcome!!!
In my opinion, NADA values mean nothing in the current market. Maybe banks use it to set loan values, but that's it. You won't be able to negotiate based on NADA at all and, as mentioned above, the market will dictate the price. With Cobalt's I wouldn't be afraid to step back a few years to get what you want (says the guy with a 2005!). They hold their value and, if taken care of, you won't get hurt on re-sale.
Make contact with the sales guys at Village Marine and tell them what you're looking for. Often times they know of potential sales before they hit the market.
Good luck with the search!

Was in a similar situation this fall. Wound up with a 2016 A28. I am just outside of KC and looked at quite a few boat in the lake of ozarks. Ended up buying in Tennessee. It seemed like prices were definitely higher in the lake of ozarks area (I’m guessing because if high demand). Not sure how far from home you are looking but you might find some better prices if you look a little farther from home.
