Headroom in the Head

We have an R5 and the head compartment gets used as a changing room and female passengers make use of the facilities. Is the head compartment larger on an R6/7/8? What about an A29? Thinking of upgrading not just for interior space, but would like a tower, table, and a couple of other features that aren't on our current boat. Thanks!

The A29 has a double wide head with a bench seat inside. I don't think you will find the R7 head area to be appreciably bigger than an R5. It's still single width and probably has only slightly more volume.

A big selling feature for why I bought our 24sx is the double wide head. Really well thought out design with bench seat and the porta potty slides out of the way. Provides plenty of room for changing or lots of storage. Really not sure why the 24sx layout isn't used / more popular with other runabout models. It makes perfect sense to me.

If you want more head room, you will need to step up in hull width.

Thanks. The pics are very helpful. The biggest limitation I have on width is that we do have to use a trailer to pull the boat out each year.

How do you guys pump them out? Not sure if the marinas on my lake do this.

If you have the porta potty option, you can just take the holding tank with you to dump it. If you have one that needs pumped, you could go to an RV pump station (though some of those are gravity only, which won't work).

I walked an a29 when my dealer had one. Head was about twice the size of my r7 so that would probably be your best bet. 9’ beam too so you can pull it without a permit. Only thing I didn’t like about the head in the a29 is the toilet is oddly placed in the middle of the floor.

8’6” beam is the legal tow limit without requiring special paperwork in most states. Is that different where you are?

Some states require a permit to tow boats that are wide. Example those with a 10’ beam. Mo isn’t one of those states unless the trailer is wider than a lane on the highway.

I’m thinking more in terms of the legal width tow limit
in Missouri (as in most states) is 102inches wide (8’6”). Didn’t want misinformation to get out there. (Of course there’s none of that on the internet ).
