2006 gas fill cap help identification - lost in Lake Erie

Post by ajcampen »

All my buddies maiden voyage in his 2006 200 cobalt was marred by the loss of his gas cap to the gods of Lake Erie. Been looking on the OEM cap to help him replace it. Can anyone confirm this is the replacement cap. I think it is by south o and sorta pops up when you push. Right now we put a non pop up screw on from west marine. Any reason the pop up would be required vs another type. Thank you

Yea that's what I have. The cap is flush and then pop up so you can turn it. Otherwise if you get a flush one you need a tool to open it.

My 2006 220 had the same cap, but the keeper wire was badly frayed so I had it replaced with a more current model by the Cobalt dealer. I have the one that was removed, but it does not have the keeper. PM me if that would help if you can't find one online.
