What diameter size are people using for their umbrellas? Is a 9 footer to big?

For those that don’t have a ski pylon to mount an umbrella, I saw this on ship shape TV a few years ago. Umbrellas4boats.com Install an adjustable bracket to your through bolted stern D ring and attach foldable umbrella. I was going to look into it but looks like with a swim platform on the new 220s could be a tight fit.
