Re: Problem Anchoring R7 Surf
I’m also curious to see if any of the anchor lines that are “bungee“ would be good to absorb the waves that are currently dislodging my anchor
Re: Problem Anchoring R7 Surf
I store my stern anchor in the bilge compartment. So when the rope dries it just drains into the bilge. Not sure if you have that luxury though with the ballast tanks. Engine compartment on my R7 is huge since I have the non surf. As far as the anchor line I just use standard anchor line

Stagdad, FYI from my experience the Richter worked great in everything but sand. In sand you might as well just throw the bare line overboardStagdad wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 6:10 am Steve, Add 5-6 feet of galvanized or coated chain with shackles between the anchor and the rode.(anchor line). This is a 25 dollar investment and certainly won't have any negative impact. Also as others have pointed out make sure there is enough scope. Sometimes 10: 1 is just not practical. I usually end up at 2 or 3 to 1 works well with my Richter anchor.

I had thought about something similar, but keep it simple, I just throw out a couple extra feet of line after I toss the Box overboard. They say it works on a 2:1 scope, we usually anchor in 30 - 40ft of water so I toss out a few extra feet and it usually holds pretty well.StingraySteve wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 8:14 pm I’m also curious to see if any of the anchor lines that are “bungee“ would be good to absorb the waves that are currently dislodging my anchor

Re: Problem Anchoring R7 Surf
Update: I got the large box anchor. It fits nicely in the compartment on my R7 and it works perfectly!!! I kept the old anchor and I set it off the back to keep me from blowing side to side. (also the added weight helps the surf wave some)
No problems anchoring anymore!!!

The large holds my A25 great. Pull it up a couple times on the weekend and you can skip the gym Monday

I ordered a small for my A25 and used it for the first time last weekend - held great.2ridgebacks wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 5:22 pm The large holds my A25 great. Pull it up a couple times on the weekend and you can skip the gym Monday![]()
It was a BEAR to pull back up so I finally had my 16-year-old help me. We sweated over it and then when the anchor finally made it back to the surface, it brought a section of waterlogged tree trunk along for the ride.
