R5 Box Anchor
R5 Box Anchor
Anyone have one and do they fit in the bow anchor locker? I've been ordered to get an anchor ASAP!

Question will be if it can fit collapsed or out.
Box anchors are great as I’ve used them but that short scope also brings up alot of bottom to rinse before you pull her up.
You want a anchor you can stow as quickly as it comes on deck.
If your in limited wind and current get a small.

We have friends who have a small cheap pontoon with maybe 50 hp engine. They use what they call a box anchor, as they spend most of their time sitting still. It's a cement building block on a ski rope.

That’s a block anchor, not a box anchor!Krob1114 wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 5:54 am We have friends who have a small cheap pontoon with maybe 50 hp engine. They use what they call a box anchor, as they spend most of their time sitting still. It's a cement building block on a ski rope.

Re: R5 Box Anchor
I just got a box anchor for my R7. I got a "large" size and it barley fits in my anchor box on the bow. I fold it down move some of the rope away and slide it in. It is REALLY heavy when pulling it up. I am not sure my wife could do it. With that being said, it seemed to work well with decent wind on a muddy bottom where there just isn't much to grab on to, though I have only used it once.
Before that I used the digger anchor which would work OK, it wouldn't hold in the mud very well but if it found something else to grab on to it held well. The digger worked fine until kids and dog kept jumping off the back then the shock would knock it loose.

If kids jumping off the boat would dislodge the anchor then you didn’t have enough line out. Need at least 2:1 for any chance of a digger holding.
