Glad to be back in the water again

Post by astahl33 »

It’s been almost 20 years but I’m glad to say I’m back in the water again! This time with a well maintained 2005 Cobalt 24sx, so far it been great.

The one thing I’d like to replace is the steering wheel, any good leads would be appreciated. Sorry for the rotated pic technology is what it is sometimes!

See you out there!

Yes go on ebay search Cobalt boat steering wheel. Guzzi brand. And in the comments tell them you would like the cobalt center.

Hey A33. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us! Great to have you back in the water again my friend. 👌🏻

I rotated the pic for ya’. If you take a screenshot first or take the pic in landscape mode they seem to upload correctly. Portrait is hit or miss.

How’s your boat powered?

Again welcome aboard mate!

Hey thanks for doing that A7 - looks like a boat again! It's got a Volvo 5.7, GXi, and compared to my old 19' Caravelle cuddy (that sometimes required a live body on top to plane out) this thing flies!

Cheers!

Welcome. We too went from Caravelle to Cobalt. First floor to penthouse for us.
Point of information: one of my time killers is searching used boat sites. I thought the 24 SX was the designation for an outboard? When we were looking used, everytime I found a used 24 SD, it sold before I could see it.

Thanks Krob, and yes you are right - way back when, my Caravelle was ok for 3 to just get out on the water and enjoy some skiing, docking up at crab joints and such. But this is definitely a major upgrade!

Not sure about the SD, but the SX is definitely an I/O, unless my paperwork is wrong! As far as I can tell it was only sold for 2-3 years, maybe the center helm thing wasn't very popular. I think it's kinda cool.

Enjoy your ride as well!

Thanks Big Block for pointing me in the right direction - this wheel is a GREAT alternative to the original. Let's hope I installed it correctly!

Thanks Jackb - needed a little help from You Tube, "How to remove a corroded boat steering wheel, etc...". Note the rubber mallet on the dash 😉
