OEM Cover Replacement
I'm sure it's been brought up before but couldn't find anything on it. I need to replace my cover for my 2013 232. Whats the best option for getting a new one?
Re: OEM Cover Replacement
You can go through you dealer or approach the cover manufacturer directly.
OEM was made by Commercial Sewing . Now the site is Outer Armor.

Re: OEM Cover Replacement
I tried commercial sewing. They only sell to dealers. So I guess I’m stuck with my dealer.

Re: OEM Cover Replacement
Dealer wants $1550 for one. My local boat mechanic that specializes in Cobalts recommended a a guy that makes the same style custom fit out of Sunbrella. He can also get one from Outer Armor for the same price as the dealer. The custom guy can adjust the size to make it cover the sides below the rub rail a little more, the bow, the swim platform etc. but no Cobalt logo. He's about $500 less and uses a heavier fabric than Outer Armor. Trying to figure out if I REALLY need the logo, would miss out on a possible last chance to get a Cobalt cover due to it being a 2013 model or any other regrets before I sink 10 or15 bills.
Re: OEM Cover Replacement
Went for a custom cover on our 232. They even put the cobalt logo on it on each side. The lower section zips off to cover the sides to the bottom, and also the swim platform. Has been sitting outdoors 24/7 for a year and a half (over 2 winters) and not one drop of water inside. The top section alone is meant to tow with. Does not move an inch on the highway at 75 MPH. It's fabulous.

Looks great! Where did you get this custom cover made at? How much did it cost?JTinMO wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 4:11 pm Went for a custom cover on our 232. Re: OEM Cover Replacement
Any reputable canvas shop can make exactly what you want. For my 21' it was $1100, for my 252 bow and cockpit covers will be around $1400.DockRocker wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 4:27 pmLooks great! That's a beautiful cover JTin! I wish my cover went all the bat down to my boot strap, would help with the sun and rain!JTinMO wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 4:11 pm Went for a custom cover on our 232. Had to store the boat outdoors year round. Needed the sides covered to protect it. Was money well spent.

Re: OEM Cover Replacement
You mention the bottom piece zips to the top cover, is there a draw string at the bottom of the bottom cover?JTinMO wrote: Mon May 11, 2020 10:17 am Had to store the boat outdoors year round. Needed the sides covered to protect it. Was money well spent.

Re: OEM Cover Replacement
yes. Bottom piece zips onto the top cover, all the way around. Bottom has drawstring with dual ratchets in the front. The thing will hold up in a tornado (and practically has).

Re: OEM Cover Replacement
That’s a nice cover, mine is similar but doesn’t trailer well, the back end comes up, plus I worry about straps rubbing, I may have cover modified to cover platform like yours
Did they put ratchets to pull cover tight?
Mine has a pair and I tighten the crap out of them and just doesn’t hold well
Here’s mine

Re: OEM Cover Replacement
Yep, ratchets on both sides. They are inside the Velcro pockets under neath the cobalt patches on either side. They can hold the cover soo tight you can hardly get a finger under there.
