Hey everybody,
This is my first post but have been enjoying the info on this site for sometime. I have a new 2019 R5 with a the windlass option. I love the windlass but I have a major problem. Unloading the boat is almost impossible because the windlass contacts the stop blocks on the trailer. The dealer had Heritage build a shorter version of stop blocks but it still doesn't work at all. I have resorted to removing the stop assembly each time I unload the boat it is a major pain in the ass. The dealer acts as if they have never sold a boat with a windlass. If anyone has any suggestions that I could take to the dealer that would be great. I have attached a pic of the shortened version. Thanks for any help

Re: Windlass contacting trailer
Yes that’s the incorrect bow setup.
Trailers for boats with a windlass will have a short stop, and a bow wench separate.
Yours will need to be updated as they are both a bolt on.
Easy fix. Call your trailer mfg. set up the correct components. Then tell your dealer they do over the phone visa payment.

Thanks for the reply! If you look at the pic you can just see on the left side that the wench hook is barely visible. My point is that my bow wench and the stop ARE separate. Even on ramps with a low slope I cannot avoid contact with the stop. Based on your pics my stop is still way to tall. No worries about dealer paying for it !!!!!!

If yours was two pieces and adjustable down you could slide it back further and lower it. Maybe have the get you an adjustable version.
I’m max back in my adjustment or I’d go lower still but I clear by a bunch .
Keep us posted.

Re: Windlass contacting trailer
What brand trailer is that. It looks like your pretty deep in the water. Does that matter at all?
With all of the guys with winless this is the first complaint I've heard. Like Matt said maybe it needs to go further under the boat? Or disconnect the anchor and just throw one over like the rest of us poor folk. Just kidding. The trailer company should know better.

Re: Windlass contacting trailer
The trailer is a Prestige by Heritage. Only deep enough in the water to float the boat. I agree with you about a lot of guys having them. I also never heard any complaints so I never thought it would be an issue. Chime in please if you have an R5 with a windlass I need to see some pics to show to the dealer!!

Hey DG. Sorry to hear about your trailer woes. I can’t believe you unbolted and bolted for launches. That’s a first.
I’d personally be on the phone with Heritage trailers communicating with your pictures. That’s a major oversight on their (or the Dealer’s) part. Those trailers aren’t cheap and have a reputation for quality. Show them your pics and I’m confident they will make it right.
In any event, so glad you found us. Thanks for coming out of the woodwork. Keep us posted and welcome aboard mate!

You could go through the new member section and search some of the owners postings. Pretty much each one of them have pictures or we delete there membership. Lol
Check the R series threads too for pictures.

Welcome from Oklahoma! Sorry to hear about your issue, but it should be an easy fix. Sounds like the dealer really fumbled the ball in not having it set up correctly.
