303 marine fabric guard being applied to factory mooring cover
303 marine fabric guard being applied to factory mooring cover
Did a 630am wakeboard run last week and when I took the cover off the interior was damp. Commercial sewing website recommends putting 303 fabric guard on to regain water seal. I bought a gallon for $70 off amazon and I will be applyomg with a $10 pump sprayer from Home Depot. I’ll let everyone know the results

Been doing this for years. works great. Apply it once a year and your cover will last a very long time. Make sure its the fabric guard, and not the aerospace protectant though. very different liquids.

In addition, it says to allow it to dry in the sun. I wouldn't spray this with the cover on the boat myself. It smells like it has those nasty petroleum products in it until it drys, and on my cover there was a little bleed through while still wet. I was glad I took the cover off before spraying.

Driller I even read it on something maybe even the directions on the bottle that it said you could apply it while it's on the boat. Oh my no way.

Re: 303 marine fabric guard being applied to factory mooring cover
I've done it both on and off the boat to be honest. Never had an issue either way. The second this stuff hits the cover anything else beads as it dries. First application with the covers for my Cobalt was off the boat, and subsequent ones were on the boat.
With my old Tahoe boat, I always sprayed the cover while on the boat without issue. Nothing ever came through the cover or caused any concern whatsoever.

completed the task today. laid cover on the grass and sprayed with a Home Depot pump sprayer ($9) and it took about 20 min. very easy. let it dry all day and put back on the boat in the evening. hopefully it keeps the water out. will report when I can check
