SIMRAD GO5 VS GO7

Post by Driller »

If you're trying to decide between the GO5 and the GO7 I thought I would share these pics.

Neither one is a prefect fit on my 2011 242, but I like the GO7 better for these tired old eyes.

Here's the GO5

I have a GO7 XSE in my boat. I like it but honestly, I like Garmin's map display better, the breadcrumbs are easier to use, as is the anchor alarm. But the biggest issue I have had is that if it's in the direct sunlight on a hot day it will shutdown. It will still be on but the display goes dark and the touchscreen won't work. I sent it in and got a replacement but the new one does it too. I cover it with a shirt or something when we anchor out. Mine is probably mounted flatter than yours so hopefully it won't be an issue for you.
