I think the mystery has been solved, it's only the details that remain.

Ok, checked and none of the other courtesy lights are made the same as the one in the glove box. They all look like pic #1.

I guess I could replace it with something that will work like pic #2. Looks like it will have to screw in from the outside. The others onboard have no screws and must have an attachment on the backside.

Mine is the same as the top picture. And every other boat I've owned was like that.

All all my other courtesy lights are like that except the one in the Glovebox which by happenstance is the one that has been mutilated.

Googled around, and can't find one that looks like mine. Since mine is a 2011, do you think there is a chance my dealer can find it?

Yes!
Funny, I googled all over trying to find a pic of that top courtesy light. Just could not find it.

That's the same light we had in our 262 glove box. Just not sure how that translates into the picture you showed up from your boat, Driller.

o I go down to the Marina and prepare to pull the mystery item from the glove box.

There on the side of the radio box in the very back of the glove box is in fact a courtesy light. You can't see it well, but it is the same as all the other courtesy lights onboard.

What the hell, I say let's pull the mystery item and at least get a model number etc. This has gone on long enough.

I unscrew it, and pull, it has a round cord and a somehow familiar flat plug on the back. A light bulb, dimly begins to turn on, not fully bright just that it is not standard electrical.

There on the back of the unknown object is the wording..........wait for it..........

"iPOD Receptacle Patent Pending"

That piece of technology I had forgotten about, probably already ending its useful life in 2011.

Sure enough after closer examination, in the very back of the receptacle is the flat inch wide plug that we all knew and loved. Can't see it when it is mounted, but it's there.

Should have pulled it on day one, but I missed the courtesy light and that led me down the wrong path. If I wasted your time I apologize.

Finally, mystery solved!... man that was buggin' me, Driller. I could not figure out how that receptacle transformed into a courtesy light. Ipod docking...now that makes more sense!

Thank you for following up my glove box friend.

So I asked Mrs. Driller. We have got an iPOD around here somewhere that is full of music. Any ideas? She just stares at me with a blank look and says "Where's the charging cord". I'm on a scavenger hunt for 2 items, which I know exist in our house, but the mystery is where?

Man driller, we got literally over 30 of those (new and old) positioned all over the house. Wish I could just walk down the street and give ya' one.

I've got a few, I only need to find one. The cord I am find. I know I had one literally loaded with a the music I liked. That's the one I am after. It has to take the old 1" wide flat plug.
