Hey john. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. Thanks for coming out of the woodwork!

Do you have any pics? It all depends on your battery set up.
Two starting batteries? Two cranking batteries? One of each?

If the battery is labeled “deep cycle” on the side or top, then that is normally used for operating electronics. It will still crank the engine over but it’s not as effective as the dedicated cranking battery.

If you have one of each, you’ll have to determine which one is which by simply disconnecting one of the cables and see which battery switch position still provides power.

Again welcome aboard mate!

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to take some pictures this weekend when I get back out to the lake. One battery is on the port side, the other on the starboard. The switch has the on setting and then the emergency start setting I guess. Trying to trace the cables is next to impossible. I'll try disconnecting one and see if she still starts. lol

All u need is a half inch box wrench or a crescent wrench or a pair of pliers to loosen the nut. 👌🏻

On my 2014 26SD the battery on the Port side is what is set up as the "ON' position on the battery switch. The battery on the Starboard side under the walk through comes to life once the "BOTH" position is selected. So in the spring I open the walk through hatch, hook up the Starboard battery, move the switch the" BOTH" position, push the engine hatch button, raise hatch then hook up the Port battery. That leads me to believe that the Port is start. The boat is at the shop( in another province). I'll see if there is anything in the manual.
