New forum member about to buy our first Cobalt

Post by jtrichards »

Hello Everyone,

Just found this site recently and joined last week. We have been looking at the R5 for a couple years and finally made an offer to the dealer today for a new 2019 R5 Surf in stock. We took a ride and I was simply amazed how smooth that boat rides. We have a lake house in NW Arkansas at Beaver lake for the past three four years. Ready to trade in the Crown Line and move up to the Cobalt. See you around the forums and hopefully see some of you on the lake!

Hey jtr, welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Awesome pics. Thanks for posting those.

Crownline makes a great boat but I think you are going to love the Cobalt upgrade.

What size engine did you select?

Lotta great resources here.

Welcome aboard mate!

Congratulations on the R5 Surf. I took delivery of one three weeks ago and still haven’t found time to get it on the water.

Welcome from just further on down the chain! I boat Table Rock so we are almost neighbors.

Beautiful R5 surf! I’ve also owned a couple crownline in my day as well. Going from those to cobalt is quite the change in ride comfort and overall quality. You are going to love it.

Hello All! Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Well, we took delivery yesterday!!! They are adding the Eco-Sport hull and interior protection so they will drop it off at our dock this coming week. We made a pretty good deal I hope. Certainly didn't get 30% off if that was a legit comment :-).

We traded in a CrownLine 205 that only had 135 hours on it. We bought it from the people we purchased our lake house from in 2015. It was like new. The Cobalt is such a smoother ride, however. Love the Volvo Penta. I sure had hoped to get the 380, but this one had the 350 and most of their R5 surfs at Arrowhead come with 350's.

I absolutely love the color combinations they did on this with the black bottom, red stripe and white hull top. The red piping on the interior makes it pop too. And then the black arch just adds to the overall blend of the three colors.

Looking forward to seeing you out on the lake this summer!
