Newbie in Utah
Re: Newbie in Utah
There is a good chance that I had the trailer too far down the ramp and in reality have no idea what I'm doing with a boat this size. The boats I've had in the past have all been smaller where they were easier to get into the right position, or there was a bit of margin for them to be out of position. With the size of this boat, if it's more than an inch or 2 to either side, it looks way off-kilter.AsLan7 wrote: Sat May 11, 2019 8:53 pm.Newman wrote: Sat May 11, 2019 5:35 pm Finally got a break from rain and responsibility and got the boat wet again.
Just a few hours on the water with the kids and some friends.
Kids all loved getting to drive the boat in circles, and then playing around on the kayaks. Sure is a good way to spend a spring Saturday.
New brakes worked great. Nothing else broke. So a very successful 2nd voyage.
Probably need to get some trailer guides because it took me longer than it should have to get the boat centered and out of the water.
Love the smile on her face Newman!
Btw, how deep was your trailer in the water while loading?
Most ramps only require 1/2 the trailer fender to be submerged for the boat to load properly. Were your trailer fenders underwater? If your trailer is in the water too deep, the back end of your boat will not load properly as it swings to the port or starboard.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to go get more practice. It looks sunny next weekend. . .
