Found a replacement Porsche with a few upgrades and 25k less miles. Same year and color. Insurance company even let me pull my old wheels and tires from the totaled vehicle (I was after the tires. $1600 for the set and they only had 5k on them). Looks like when the dust settles it will be an even trade. Hopefully it has been well maintained. It was a one owner, and had all the records. Needs about $600 dollars worth of paintless dent removal for a few door dings, but I've got a good body shop I can use.

What insurance company? That's pretty sweet they let you swap wheels. When my last Benz was totaled a year ago my insurance tried giving me shit for taking the shifter knob and floor mats...glad you found a clean replacement!

Well, the car is ok, but the previous owner was not as meticulous about maintenance as I am. He did ok, but I spent about $3000 bringing it up to my specs (40k service, new battery, and some odds and ends). While they are doing the maintenance items I requested they found a cracked catalytic converter and some NO2 sensors that were caput. Cost Porsche another $3000 to repair those in parts, I have no idea about the labor.

book time on cats and o2 sensors is probably only 2 hours, gotta love certified cars though. I had around $2k in repairs done on my wife's Expedition, and 1k on the Benz before I took delivery. Sounds like you're going to end up with a nice ride.

Because of those VW pollution cheaters all their vehicles (VW, Porsche, Audi) with diesel engines had the bumper-to-bumper warranty taken out to 7 years or 120k miles and the emissions, fuel injection etc. taken out to 10 years or 120k as part of the settlement. In addition, they wrote a check to the owners. I got one for $11,500. Best car deal I every made. The warranty on the 2013 which was wrecked still had a bumper-to-bumper until Jan 2020. This one it will be over the end of this month, however, I'm still gonna ride the other warranty if I keep it 3 more years.

The cars they couldn't tweak they had to buy outright. I heard some folks got more than they paid originally.
