JTinMO wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2019 7:32 am Closest thread I could find to fit my question in. I am getting SeaGrass snap in carpets made, and have everything worked out except the thickness. I am using the Infinity Luxury Woven SeaGrass which can come in Compact Cushion (.115" thick) or the Heavy Duty (HD .223" thick). I'm definitely leaning towards using the HD thickness as I think we want a softer feel. And we are used to the thicker carpet from factory.

What's the thickness that comes in the boats now, or what do you all recommend that have experience with it?
get the thicker one . I had the .115' thick on my 262. It was grey and it would get super hot because there was little to no padding. I would actually have to splash water on it for people to walk on it. I know last weekend it was only 82. But my carpet in my R7 which is the thicker version was very cool to the touch.

Go with the HD, I looked at a boat that had it and I loved it.

I ordered the HD thickness. Sandstone color.

Hopefully it makes a difference in the boat. In the past I always had to pull out the carpets after every outing as they were wet, and didn't want to leave them in to start growing mold under the cover. Hoping that the SeaGrass dries a lot quicker and I can leave them in the boat.

How are you liking the carpet? We ordered our R5 with sea grass. Ran into brand new R5 owners in the hot Atlanta area where we boat, and they say they have to put towels down! Loved the easy cleaning of SG, but dont want to deal with burning feet! I'm guessing the carpet is cooler and more comfy, but more difficult to keep clean?

Did you get the arch on your r5? With the Bimini on the foldable arch the only section of my sea grass that is in the sun is the walk through to the transom and the bow. It gets hot but once it gets wet from people coming in and out of the boat it is fine.

And this past weekend it was low 90s with a uv index of a 10 here

I considered all 3 flooring options in our new R3 and in the end stayed with carpet. I read the sea deck is hard to keep clean and I just didn't like the feel of the seagrass underfoot at the boat show. It felt "plasticy" and squirmed around a bit, which I didn't care for. I had carpet in our 210 last year and to reduce the amount of water on the carpet, I just have the kids towel off on the rear deck before coming back into the boat. Most of the water evaporates before we get back to the dock anyway. I didn't notice any mold problems last year.

As for cleaning - any portable carpet DIY cleaning equipment will work fine. You can rent a Rug Doctor at almost any grocery store in the country.

Yes - did get the Arch/Bimini. Thats pretty much what the R5 owner I met on the lake said, but he puts a towel down on the walk through area.

This weekend was mid 80s and sunny and we had no issues with the Seagrass at all. I had two spray bottles of water ready but never touched them. Even with baking in the sun before getting wet they were fine. No one even mentioned them, or thought about them being hot. I will say it’s nice to not have to worry about kids dripping water all over them and soaking them like I did with the regular carpets. Driving home 30 mins from the lake dries them all out as well.

Overall I am very pleased with the Seagrass.

I would love info for this place, too.

Thanks!
