Does anyone know how to read a Diacom Service report?

Post by jasondon »

Hello Colbalt'ers

I am looking at a 2012 242 and my mechanic ran a "Diacom Marine Service Report" and sent it to me.
He said it looks "fine" but wondering if anyone here would mind taking a quick look to see if anything looks out of the ordinary?

There are two pages of data but I have no idea what most of it means.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Jasondon. Welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!

I would suspect this DMS report is similar to the Merc report that reads the various engine parameters. It's really just another software program that can be used by surveyors and individuals to get an overview of an engine's health.

Take a pic of the report and post it in this thread for interpretation.

....and again, welcome aboard mate!

Jd, when I look at those numbers, I see readings from an engine that is not--nor has been running during the software engine snapshot. (no rpm's, no fuel flow, ambient manifold temperatures, negligent oil pressure, manifold and barometric pressure the same, etc.)

The Tech is probably referring to any fault codes of which there appear to be none. However, there should be more pages (7 or so?) to confirm this. :geek:

....oh, and your battery has 11.7 volts. ;)

Btw, here is what a Diacom S.R. would look like on an engine that is running (in this case a 4.3L Merc).

Yup, he pulled that with key on engine off, I’d be interested in seeing the same report with key on engine on. That’s what they game me when I bought my boat and I saw that they didn’t set initial ignition timing correctly when they did the tune up. All that report you got shows is there’s no stored codes, and I don’t see a PID check timer so how do you know they didn’t just clear the codes and run the report? Not doubting the report, just pointing out that it really doesn’t tell you anything I’d base a decision on.

Yep that was useless. Wth. Data from a engine not running at idle not under load. Not sure I even saw what rpm the boat was used at. Nor hours on it. I just glanced quick and have up when I saw 0 rpm.

Thank you for the feedback.

I don't think the engine was on. So ask for this same thing to be done when the engine is running? I did ask for the rest of the report as I was expecting 6 or 7 pages, including engine history (at what rpm for how long, etc).

I will request this to be done again. Than you very much. I'll report back with new numbers.

Report should be run with engine on, at idle, at operating temperature.

Engine hours and also version or date of ecm. Like to see them match up.

Since ECM hold hours I like to see if they have been swapped out( instant engine overhaul) and the hour meter unplugged.
I know it sounds distrustful but it’s a common occurrence in the marine market. Hours can add up and people think that boats over 600 hrs have limited resale.
Scann data with a fault history I missed on your scann.
Other than that you’re good to go! Must be freezing where they scanned it. Lol

Yes, Canadian ECU... This version isn't afraid of the cold!! Haha.

There was no fault history, it was below on the report but all zeros. I assume this just meant it hasn't misfired etc..
