That dude in the video (George) was just at the Mid Canada Boat Show in Winnipeg, Canada. I spent a fair bit of time talking with him about the R3. he's been with the company for over 33 years - super knowledgable.

Did he recommend the 380hp?

Sorry had to.

The 350hp is just fine for the R3. Kidding promise.

Funny guy. We did discuss power. He immediately brought out the prop charts for the R3 to show different boat performance with the various props and powerplants. I posted those results in another thread. He said most boats are delivered with the VP V8/300 EVC DP, but that if I was regularly carrying a full boat of adults and pulling a wakeboarder at the same time, the 350 would provide an extra margin of performance. They mostly see the 380 and 430 in surf boats and usually the R5 and up. My impression is that Cobalt wants satisfied customers. They wouldn't get that if they routinely made a sale at a lower price point via a smaller engine and had a bunch of frustrated owners. At least that is the impression I got from him. :)
