Thanks for the advice cmattj! Sunbrella has twice the warranty over shark skin, my guy said the only downside of sunbrella is if I go with an over the tower cover, it'll be heavy!
If you go over the tower you will never be able to tow with it on....probably be very annoying. I have the factory cover and tow with it now problem. If it rains while towing on the highway I don’t have to deal with a dirty disgusting boat

This is a great point - our mooring cover usually comes off just before the boat ramp and goes on just after we pull the boat out. We couldn't do that with a cover that couldn't be towed down the highway.

Great story, and beautiful boat. I feel like that boat was posted by someone else either here or on the Cobalt FB page a while back, and the poor buff job was discussed back then. Looks like they did a bang up job bringing the gel back to life!

Go with the custom cover 100%, it's much better than the OE cover, though I wouldn't go over the tower as mentioned.

Agreed I wouldn't go over the tower for your everyday mooring cover. Did it come with any covers? If it's a storage cover then I'm good going over the top. Then I might just shrink wrap it every year. I guess what is the main purpose of the cover and covers. I love having a bow and cockpit cover and a mooring cover. Just saying. Well it be on a lift or sitting in the water will it get pulled out every time. Will it sit outside. Of my the choices at get to have who would have thought.

Great to see you documenting your experiences on the forum,S33. In addition to the wealth of advice received here, you’ll also enjoy looking back on this adventure to reminisce about your 262’s journey to Erie PA.

I have fixed most of the sideways-rotated pics for ya. She looks gorgeous!. Just so sexy optioned out like that. :D

I would skip trying to cover the arch. A quality custom cover over the rest of the boat is worth its weight in gold

Thanks again for posting. Looking forward to some “formation” boating with ya this summer. 👌🏻 8-)

I agree, I wouldn't go over the arch. Maybe once on, once off for long term, but otherwise it'll be a pain getting on and off.

I use my mooring cover over the winter and during the week when my boat sits on the lift. I never tow with it on because I don't want it to chafe the gelcoat. But I also have snap on bow and cockpit covers for towing and weekends.

Congrats on the new boat! It is so sad to see such a great boat treated like that by it’s previous owner. Glad to see you are bringing her back to life!

Congrats on the boat! Looks much nicer after cleaning up that buffing debacle.

As for the cover, definitely go custom. I won't hijack your thread, but check out my Cobalt custom cover detailed post. Can't say enough about the cover I had made, and it has the option to cover the swim deck. It's been bulletproof so far and has a ton of snow piled on her this winter.

Hey Samuri33 - Boat looks great! How did your F150 do hauling the 262? I ask as I just closed on an 05 272 (same hull) and will be towing with my 2008 F150 w/ 5.4L. I'm a bit concerned the truck will struggle....

I'm a bit confused. So your hired mechanic and surveyor found some major things wrong with the engine and outdrive to the tune of $10,000. The gentleman selling the boat took it on the chin and sold you the boat for much less than his asking price because of these found problems. You have since took the boat to a indy shop where they are telling you that the engine and outdrive is in tip top shape and needs no work outside of some regular maintenance items. Do I have this correct?
