An "epiphany"---not mine

Post by sailor55330 »

My wife was showing some pics at work the other day to a coworker of our boat---I guess the conversation went something like

Coworker: "We were on the lake this weekend--Lake xxxxxxx in our Malibu"

Wife: "We were on that lake in our boat too..."

Coworker: "Oh--you have a boat? I didn't know that? What kind of boat do you have?"

Wife "Yes, we do---here's a couple of pics" (no mention of what kind of boat)

Coworker: "You have a F***ing Cobalt??!?!?!"

Wife: "Yeah, it's an R3"

Coworker: "It's a F***ING COBALT........I'll teach you to ski in our Malibu for a ride in your Cobalt"

When my wife told me this, she started to grin from ear to ear and said "I guess people do know there's a difference with Cobalt".....

That's probably the best thing that could have ever happened for my future boating endeavors.....silly story, but thought I'd share.

That’s a funny story. Thanks for the share
S55330.

Here in PA, I find that about half of the folks within the local boating community know and understand the reputation of the Cobalt brand.

Outside the boating community (such as first time Boat buyers in PA), I normally have to explain what a Cobalt is. When friends ask about what boat to buy, they are normally looking at a Sea Ray, Regal, Bayliner., etc... I’ll bring up the Cobalt option. Since there are so few here, it makes for a unique boat where they appear sparsely in local Marinas.

This varies by region of course. I’m sure LOTO Cobalt owners have the opposite experience.

Don’t know that I would have been too familiar with Cobalt had I not admired them for years at the boat shows. One of the first features I remember seeing was the stainless bow guard where the winch hooks on. That was always a yucked up spot on my other boats. Nice story.

Awesome story Sailor! My wife loves to brag to people that we have a Cobalt as well.

A7- LOTO is a huge Formula and Sea ray lake. Then of course the go fast boats. Where Table Rock is a huge Cobalt lake.
