What is this? 263 question

Post by Red Stripe »

I removed my carpet for the first time last weekend to do some deep down cleaning and I found this under the drivers seat. Thought maybe it was access to the fuel tank / filler hose but it appears to have a red "stopper" in it. Anybody have any thoughts...

For lack of a better definition, it is a safe. Just a deck plate with a plastic compartment attached. I've used it as a place to store a key when not using the boat. It is on the 262/3 boat.

Mine has no stopper, just an opening you can stick your hand into to access the wiring and steering cable. There is a similar one on the port side too.

This one has me stumped. Normally I would just say it’s an access for wiring, bolts, etc. ....but I’ve never seen the red stopper. 🤔

I like the secret compartment idea, but I have nothing secret to put in there. Maybe I’ll hide my daughters phone in there while she’s on the boat and then call it. :D

Then your luck would have the red stopper fall into the hull and so did the phone. I wouldn't want to be you at that moment. Lol

Especially if it then leads to the macerator pump.

Ha! When my daughter was about 13 she didn't answer her phone one night when I called. Kind of a long story, but in a nutshell, when I picked her up I told her to hand over her phone, and then went on a rant about why she had a phone to begin with. Not so she could text or call her friends, but so me or her mother could get ahold of her when we needed too. While ranting I had picked up a small bottle of hand sanitizer out of my console and rolled the window down a bit.

Then I told her, if she didn't answer when I called, there was no reason for her to have a phone, and I chucked that bottle of sanitizer out the window.

I got through, big time. The next morning I gave her her phone back. She's now 25, a college graduate, married and teaches special needs children in school. But to this day, if I call, she answers or immediately texts me back to tell me when she will!

She a great kid! ❤❤

That’s a great story YT! Definitely gets the point across.
Although I have to wonder if that Indian was on the hill above the highway with a tear running down his face when he witnessed that. :D
