Navigation Instrumentation
Navigation Instrumentation
I have a 2015 R3 with gauges and want to change out to the center Navigation screen with gauge on both sides. Regional cobalt dealer says 2015 does not come with NEMA network, and will not accommodate this set up. Any thoughts or previous experience here? Thanks!

Paging Sliderule, Paging Sliderule. He's the expert on the NEMA network. I know that most of the GPS now come ready to accept NEMA and there are some converters to pull the info off the engine. Sliderule installed one. I don't see why it can't be done, but I will let him chime in.

Re: Navigation Instrumentation
I installed a NEMA 2000 network in my 2008 242. The engine gateway I installed was the Yacht Devices, YDEG-04 (https://yachtdevicesus.com). Be sure to order from the USA distributor for faster delivery. Engine information is transmitted over the network to my GPSMAP 742xs (picture attached). I can see engine time, RPM, fuel burn rate in gal/hr, oil pressure and other engine data.
Also attached to the NEMA 2000 network is a Garmin GXM Sirius XM Weather Receiver and Sirius XM Satellite radio receiver. All works great.

Re: Navigation Instrumentation
Hey Wes what NEMA 2000 system did you install and and do they have one that will work with a Mercury engine?
Re: Navigation Instrumentation
I ordered my network cable, terminators, tees and power from Garmin because I had a Garmin MFD. I installed a Yacht Devices YDEG-04 engine gateway for my Volvo Penta engine that allowed me to connect the engine data to the network and then displayed on the Garmin 742xs MFD. Whether your Mercrusier engine can connect to a NEMA 2000 network depends on the year, sensors installed, etc. You may have to use an engine gateway like I did to connect to a NEMA 2000 network.

What year and model is your boat? I'm looking for something for my 2011 242. 8.1 GiWes wrote: Thu May 30, 2019 9:27 pm I ordered my network cable, terminators, tees and power from Garmin because I had a Garmin MFD.
