Hey all,
I bought a new/used boat trailer. It is going to need some work but was made for the 222. As I am repairing and painting are there any upgrades I should keep in mind.
Color ideas for the trailer...my wife wants to keep the yellow from the current trailer.

LED lights for sure! Mag wheels and a speed wench come to mind. I’m sure others have more ideas. I don’t use my trailer much.

Glad to see you are ditching the hustler trailer, we saw that boat in person and I really wasn't in love with the way it was sitting on it. I think someone said "oh its a 22 foot boat - this should work" when in reality the 222 is closer to 24 feet.
Anyway - I would cover the basics:
New wench strap perhaps a new wench - the F2 two speed models are really nice. May be an upgrade we look into soon.
Those Bunks look like they need to be recovered, and while you are doing it might as well replace any rotten wood. If you are going to recover them it doesn't take much more to just replace them honestly.
Bearing Buddies if it doesn't have them - cant really tell from the pics.
Boat Buckle tie downs! I talked Katie into adding them to our trailer about a year ago. She was skeptical and told me to just use the normal adjustable transom tie-downs....she now loves them. So much easier than fumbling around under the boat trying to get the tie down the right length and tight.
I would look at doing Electric over hydraulic brakes. Maybe its just because we had all kinds of surge brake issues last year. Maybe its because I would rather know the brakes are working via the controller in the truck. If you need to do any brake work then converting to EoH really isnt that much more work.
That should keep you busy for a bit, man I really am getting too good at spending others money.

That trailer has the Vault hubs, which are pretty nice. I would make sure they are in good shape, then run them. No maintenance needed, nor bearing buddies needed.
I would not hesitate to run new LEDs all around as step one, and new bunks. New winch would be nice too.

Thank you, Nauti. I recently upgraded to a F2 wench and they are totally worth the money!! New tires if your doing any travel at all, it's well worth the 800 for tires and mag wheels/lug nuts, I put on the Goodyear Endurance and love them. Better safe than sorry even if the tires have no miles, 5 years and toss them!!! Blowouts tear up stuff and not worth the hassle of being stranded either. New wood and carpet for the bunks, new F2 winch, make sure the bearings are good, new LED lights and your set for a few years of hassle free trailering.

I don't know if you can make the bunks self adjusting, but my Eagle trailer has that and it hands down makes trailering a snap. The boards are actually on a pivoting mount that allows the bunks to adjust to the angle of the hull. It's literally impossible to not get the boat straight, regardless of the ramp. It kind of forms a cradle vs the boat sitting on the bunks if that makes sense.

It looks like that is a custom trailer, so the bunks should already be set in the correct spot for the 222 it was designed for, ours is the same way. Great find !! I’m weird on stuff so maybe prior to investing the needed stuff ...is it possible to contact the trailer mfg with the vin number to absolutely insure it’s for your Hull.??
Hate to go through the process and have it contacting the chines.
Then add removable guide poles and you’ll be set!

Mine is custom as well...the self adjusting bunks just take it to another level.
