Livonia / Lake St Clair Michigan. Hello 242

Post by Blkvlk777 »

Trying out my first post in this forum so wish me luck. Hello everybody My name is Tom and live In the S/E Michigan area. I recently upgraded from a 95 220 (454) (that I purchased in 2012) to a 2008 242 (496 MagHO) purchased in 2016. Loved my 95 color scheme and power and actually sold it to one of my friends who liked that boat. Getting older (not any wiser) we decided to move to probably the largest boat that I want to trailer. We like to also travel to some of the larger inland lakes (Torch/Indian River) - but primarily Lake St Clair (Musacmoot bay) is where it goes. My requirements for this latest boat was the 242, biggest block option, portapotty, swim platform. Here is a picture of the 2 boat out together last summer at Indian River Michigan.

It is obvious but true - nothing makes your old big boat look small as well as a picture of it next to your new bigger boat. Nice pic, and welcome from Maryland.

Welcome from Oklahoma! Great to have you onboard! Lots of good folks and good info, tips and tricks here. Congratulations on your 242 and that's neat getting the old and new in a water shot.

Lol I asked the previous owner why he was selling this - he said see the picture in the add, that is my new R30. (If that is what the new 30fters are called)

Thanks everybody for the kind words. I will post a couple more pix but just a couple bits about each boat - (realizing g they are not racing boats and normally am running 30ish for a nice cruising speed).

‘95 220 454merc / b1 outdrive. 55mph - loaded or not. No bow rise and on plane in seconds.

‘08 242 496MagHo / B3 duo prop (X?). Honestly I have only gps’ed at 58.5 mph max w/4 people. Small bow rise. Of course I am always out to better that for some unknown reason....it is great to have this so I can compare notes to get some real numbers for the different power plants.
