Bimini Installation Height

Guys,

I am getting ready to install a bimini on the boat. This boat has never had one on it nor has it ever had a top on it of any kind, just covers.

I bought A really nice one from National Covers and my choices were 36" or 46" high. I measured it 6 ways from Sunday and decided the 36" would be too low but I was afraid the 46" would be too tall. The original place to mount a bimini on this model was inside the windshield....kinda weird. I'm planning to mount it outside but at my lowest mount point the top would be 9" above my head when I'm standing at the helm....I'm 6' 2".

I want this to look good and I don't want it to look like some towering appendage over the boat but I had a boat once that the top was not high enough. Here is the question. How high over your head is your bimini top? Or maybe how high over your windshield is the top? Or any other advice you wish to offer will be appreciated.

I don't have easy access to my boat or I would measure it for you. From looking at pics online of folks standing under the open bimini, there looks to be about a foot clearance above their heads (or more). On my 232, the mounts look to be centered on the top stripe, if this helps. Due to that position, it looks like it belongs on the boat. Pic attached.

I was going to say about 6.5 - 7 feet from the floor might be good. I'm 5.7 and Yt is 5.1 and we each already have 2 feet above our heads. Lol
Mine goes to the top of my tower. The gr81 has plenty of room.

Mine's probably a foot or so above my head. I like it that way. Other boats we've had have not been that tall and we've had to crouch down a bit under the bimini.

I'm 6'1" and have no problem standing under the bimini on my boat.

The only way BB is 5'7" is if he's setting on A7's shoulders. And everything, including biminis, is way over his head!

Shawn mine has plenty of clearance. If you set it up 6 or so inches above your head you should be fine. And I'd run the leading edge just forward of the windshield.

So now you're calling A7 short. Coming from a guy that's 5.1 yea 6 feet is good. Lol

I'm 6'2" as well. I just measured: the top of the tower is about 83" to the floor. About 9" clearance. Also, floor to the top of the windshield is about 45". Hope this helps.

Nola I’m not sure there is a perfect Bimini. Proportional is in the eye . I’m still seeing yours as a drop down type the although flimsy with straps , it won’t kill the lines of your beauty.

I have 7 feet.. it will be up all weekend

Is there a stock Cobalt option available?
I love LOVE the design. It goes up in literally seconds, folds flat to store, and made from heavy round stainless.
The key and most important part is that it is totally silent. Never a rattle no matter the conditions. The forward tubes have two threaded ends where you can turn the tube and torque down the entire structure.
