Hello all. I recently brought our 2017 R5 out of the garage to get it ready for the summer. Both batteries were dead. When it was winterized, I turned the battery switch to OFF. After charging the batteries and turning the battery switch to OFF, I noticed the Corrosion Protection lights were still on. I understand it needs to be on for boats in slips year-round, but is there a way to shut it off for those of us who can't boat year-round?
Thanks in advance
Volvo Active Corrosion Protection System
Re: Volvo Active Corrosion Protection System
I would assume the power for this bypasses the switch. You will have to trace down where the power is fed from and then move it to be switched. I am not familiar with the wiring of your boat but I would think this to be an easy fix once you determine which wire needs to be moved.Mikey wrote: Tue Jun 19, 2018 3:19 pm Hello all. Re: Volvo Active Corrosion Protection System
Hard to believe that the corrosion protection pulled down both batteries. It only pulls 3mA while in monitoring mode. As I understand my system a reference anode monitors electrical potential of the water and control unit sends out a corresponding current to the active anode. If it was stored in the garage, the the reference anode should have sensed zero potential, so it should have just stayed in monitor mode.Mikey wrote: Tue Jun 19, 2018 3:19 pm Hello all. Either way, there should be a simple fuse you can pull next time you store.
