That’s genius YT! First of a kind on a 260 series. Never seen that before.
Nice job my friend
Btw, it’s funny how I want cockpit heat and full sun in our 263 & you’re looking for more shade. Erie boating vs Oklahoma boating...so similar yet so different!
In any event, patent that umbrella.

Earlier in the year we never opened the bimini when the temps were in the 60s or 70s or low 80s. At those temps I figured that's what it would be like up where yall are. But here in the mid 90s and sometimes triple digits, shade is nice. I dont worry about it much, especially if I'm up to my ears in the water. But missus yt and the grandbabies need it!Tuscany wrote: Wed Jun 13, 2018 6:23 amAin’t that the truth A7. On our last boat that we owned since 2002, we never once opened the Bimini. And the water temps? In Missouri there is a river that runs through Branson Callled Tanycomo. It comes off the bottom of TRL where there are lots of places over 200' deep. That water is COLD. Mid 50s. I put my feet is it and about wet my pants. I dont see how you guys up north could ever get in that cold water. You guys are tuff..

YT, Lake Eire is somewhat shallow. I think the max depth is slightly over 200’. By mid summer, it’s pretty warm. Maybe it’s all of the chemicals Detroit dumps in, I don’t know

Sweet YT now we need to get my shop to screen print the the Cobalt Logo on the umbrella. Prolly not worth the shipping expense??? Oh by the way loce the red umbrella!!Ytmsn wrote: Tue Jun 12, 2018 10:25 pm Well, it's not an R series, but it's an umbrella! I finished it up tonight right before it got dark. I'm going to try it out this weekend and see how it works. I can't imagine Cobalt charging what they charge for something like this. Granted, the umbrella is a cheapie but I can buy a bunch of them if need be. It's a 9' that cranks up and tilts just like the big boys. I put a 2" stainless tube in the ski pylon hole, and boom! Rear shade.

Re: Umbrella for R series
Quick update: The pylon on my R7 fits very snug. I didn’t measure the bolt because it doesn’t screw in to my 2017 for some reason. The ski pylon works fine and the bolts look nearly identical. There must be a slight difference. I won’t make a big deal about it until the 2019 gets here
Now the next big problem: While it looks like the umbrella should tilt, I can’t figure out how. Will be bummed if it can’t move.

Tbully when you get it deployed please measure the height from the deck to the underside. I'm trying to determine how high it should be while standing underneath.
Gdane I'm not worried about a logo but thanks for the offer!
Alaska what I did is very obtainable!. It's a piece of 2" SS tubing and a $30 umbrella from Walmarket. I cut about 8" off the umbrella shaft to get the right height (for me anyway), and I have a machinist buddy that is going to cut each end of my tubing to clean it up, then he'll machine the same notch that my ski pylon has, and polish it. He's also going to weld a shim on each end so the umbrella shaft will fit tight.

So you just bought a normal rain umbrella. No need to cut that. LolYtmsn wrote: Thu Jun 14, 2018 11:57 pm Tbully when you get it deployed please measure the height from the deck to the underside. I'm trying to determine how high it should be while standing.

I'm about 5' 10" and easily walk under it. I will get a measurement the next time I have it out.Ytmsn wrote: Thu Jun 14, 2018 11:57 pm Tbully when you get it deployed please measure the height from the deck to the underside. I'm trying to determine how high it should be while standing underneath.

Would love one of these!! I saw one mounted on an R7 at the boat show this past week. Dealer selling for $900. They were more interested in making a deal on the R30 I was drooling over rather than take a few hundred off an overpriced umbrella and bracket. My wife is now begging for 1
