Called Cobalt: Docking Lights Update

Post by Cycleman6 »

If you guys remember following my build order thread, I was struggling with the look of the new LED docking lights (thinking they look too small for hullside). I really loved the traditional stainless steel look of the "old" docking lights. So I called Cobalt, spoke with their customer service representative, and they agreed they would allow a modification to the order and install the older stainless style docking lights! Yah! I am so happy. I'm sure my R5 will be one of a kind. Most people when you see the older style docking lights will assume its a 2017 prior, but they'll be confused with the 50th anniversary badge on the back, designating 2018! :D

MODERATOR EDIT: Thanks to Tuscany for finding the original bulb light assemblies Cobalt uses: http://www.barnegatlt.com/Specs/SS32hull.htm

Oh, that's very cool CM6. I'm a fan of the older style as well. They just look so mean when viewing from head on.

And that's why they should be standard equipment (not an option) on every Cobalt made!

The new dock lights fail the signature look.
Nice score!

The stainless cans just scream quality, where the new style look like a cheaper add on from JC Whitney.
I would bet that others here will follow your lead.

That's great you can do that! I think it will make your R5 a standout and an envy point with other R5 owners wishing they would have done the same.

They most definitely define a Cobalt out on the water. Just like when you buy a certain model car, I look for other Cobalts when out, and its the lights that I always look for first.

After seeing what Thunder did with his LEDs I did the same thing, as they actually work and will light the world up. Mine are the older style plastic, but with the black and white color combo they fit into the overall scheme very well.

I wonder if they would add these bulbs if you called them back?

haha nice one T. I do have a 32ft slip so the R5 might look a little small in there. So maybe I should be holding out on your R7  it does have that 6.2 430 in there

Update: Just stopped by dealership to take them lunch for their help with order. Owner called factory to make the change with the lights and order representative said that it wasn't possible. Said they aren't authorized to make the change , different than what I was told yesterday. So looks like that wasn't an option. Disappointed now.
