Yeah... there’s no oil rubbed anything. Actually it’s totally fake wood.
On the positive side, the faux product Cobalt uses, according to their north east sales manager is a lot more expensive than Makassar wood itself, and holds its look and finish for the life of the boat.

TR,
Not my boat.
Those were pictures from the Cobalt factory. They changed the option in 17', and the cost more than doubled. I was asking what changed.
They sent me the pictures from an unfinished build on the floor.
The only picture of mine is the one with my old shed.

Tusc,
What did they change in 17 with this option?
On the 16’, They used it on the main dash when it was analog. It looked pretty good. There, and the left side compartment door by the head. They had a wrap around piece under the windshield and along the side of the helm and head area,
The lower area on either side of the steering wheel where the key/tabs switches are were plain interior colored plastic.

Since they switched to the glass cockpit dash, they moved the wood to the key/tabs area, cup holder flat area, under the windshield with a screen, and down the entire port side cup holder/grab rail area.

If you don’t get the option on a 17’, the flat cup holder surround/grab area is a knurled looking aluminum, the under windshield/storage compartment door trim is black, and the key/tab switch area is plain interior colored plastic.

I’m not sure how they came up with a $1,300 figure for metal “wood”, but it does look good and it is tough as nails.

Tusc Im not so sure about it lasting the life of the boat. Maybe it's a different product, but when I replaced my dash panels on my old boat they had an aluminum backing plate and delaminated plastic on the front. There may be a micron slice of wood down in there, but I doubt it. I think it's probably just a wood grain pattern of.... something.

I think they can change the colors too easily and remain consistent thoughout to be a wood product, even though they say it's wood. What I do know is if it sets in direct sunlight it will delaminate.

Im not sure how to describe what they are using now. It looks and feels like a slightly textured, solid surfaced metal. Its not laminated. I tried to scrape off the white letter “sticker” above the ignition, only to find out that its wont come off because it’s part of the surface.
Whatever it is, it definitely isn’t wood.

YT, It's engine telemetry. You can select different readouts. Honestly, I've never paid attention to it, or used the feature. All of the features are are available on the dash screens, so it's redundancy for a Cobalt with the glass dash. It's a VP thing that comes with the engine. Very useful on a boat without the built in readouts.

Cool beans. I thought it might be something to do with trim tabs or outdrive trim But wondered about all the buttons. ok

I bought a Simrad G05 like Driller installed that is supposed to have a feature that shows engine telemetry. But I'm old school and scan the gauges every time I look down, which is a lot, so I doubt I use that screen much.

Old school here also.
