Stereo head unit upgrade

yea, I will get some posted up this week. Will be dark when I get home tonight. I am probably 90% happy with how it turned out. We had to make a custom mount for one gauge and I relocated one to a new place. I am not overly happy with where I relocated but hindsight is 20/20.

I have the Sony MEX-M100BT delivering from our friends at Crutchfield. Thank you Discover Card! Unit was on sale too! My question is for anyone who installed this exact head unit. Did you use the existing power or wire it direct to the battery? Just want to be prepared before I begin installing.

Yes at first. But I got sick of it always losing its memory when turning off the batteries so I ran it direct.

So BBP when you ran the power direct are you still using the Master switch or is it truely direct to the battery? Also, are you running more than one battery on your boat?

I have this exact unit bobo87. I used the existing power. Did not care about the presets. We use our. Bluetooth 90% of the time.

It goes directly to my port battery. Yes I have two. I just added a in line fuse. If a add a another amp it will go to the existing wire that's already there. It's prewired for two amps and the head unit. But it's not very heavy guage. So depending on the power your going to push you might have to run new power wire anyways for that. I think that's about 8 guage. The amps I don't care if they lose power they remember there settings. Plus honestly I never turn off my batteries anyways. But that one time it happens it ticks me off.
