Posts per page?

Post by tgrace98 »

Is there anyway to increase the amount of posts per page? I looked through all the forum settings and couldn't find anything. I think 10 posts per page is a little short. We get a small conversation going and we are at 3-4 pages in no time. I know I'm probably being petty

I'd second this if it's an easy option to enable. I'm used to vbulletin where I can set 40 posts per page, makes it a lot easier to follow a thread.

Paging Dr. admin John....

That would be a convenient change for all of us

Is this an option our bb coding allows? :?: :ugeek:

I'll look into it and see what I can find...

Edit - there's no straightforward way to do this on a per-user basis, so I've manually bumped it up to 15 for everybody for the time being. It doesn't sound like a huge change, but it makes a pretty noticeable difference.

That's fantastic, John.
15 is a nice change....don't have to click thru all the pages of '1', '2', '3'......'8','9', etc. THANK YOU! :) :) :)
BTW, I'm curious as to what the downside may be to this change? Slower page load times??

ps...& thank you tgrace98 for the suggestion. :P

I can give a some what educated answer on that. Obviously the more post per page the more content that has to load. So if we get a thread going that is lets say 30 posts per page and it is loaded with pictures users on slower connections (especially mobile devices) could get page time out Errors.

And in today's day and age of broadband connections and 4th generation wireless everyone expects everything to be instant. so when a page spins for 15-20 seconds before it loads it can make people think their is something wrong with the site.

I'm getting pretty slow response time now as it is. More posts per page with pictures and video will slow it even more...

Funny as I noticed the site slow down a little before noon today. Post count changes I believe were made after that. :?

It's been running slow for me for over a week. I'm sure John's on it.

Yeah, I've noticed it being sometimes fast, sometimes slow today too. I'm looking for the culprit.

It seems to be intermittent here (always has been, I haven't noticed any difference lately), usually very fast but occasionally I'll click on something and it will hang for 20-30 seconds before anything happens. A lot of times, if I click the link again it will load instantly. Maybe web requests are getting lost somewhere and the browser automatically re-submits on it's own after a specified time? Totally random and mostly uneducated guess here :)

Noticed this today (before noon & continuing to now) as well. Other days were fine for me though. :?

Yeah, it seems really slow from my iMac. It is like it is hanging, Load bar hangs at 25% for maybe 15-20 seconds and then the page just pops open. I haven't noticed the problem as much on my iPhone.

Same problem if it doesn't load. Re-Click and it pops right up.

It is also hanging when I post. It will post, but keeps my message up like it hasn't.
