2005 Cobalt 262 engine hatch noise
There other day I needed to put a new battery in my boat and when I opened the engine hatch, it made a loud popping noise when it was about half way open. I was able to get the hatch all the way open and I looked but didn't see anything around it was catching on. Since I was inside the boat, I was unable to see the bottom of the hatch from the back the swim platform. It sounded like it might me hitting/rubbing the fiberglass on the upper swim platform. I replaced the battery and put the hatch back down and there was no noise. I thought maybe this was a "one off" thing, so I lifted the hatch again and it made the same noise when it was halfway open. Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Thanks!!

How do the hinges look? Are the screws tight? Could be some shifting going on. Also check the ram screws to the bilge and on the hatch.
Also beware to never raise the hatch with the ski pole in. That will certainly cause a loud pop and more damage to the fiberglass.
