Captains Log: Feel good story

Post by 282Captain »

Hello forum. My Cobalt 282 has been the centerpiece of my family, raising the kids, and bringing distant family and friends together. My Mom couldn’t believe it and fair to say didn’t want the expensive purchase at the time that my Dad and I ventured in as partners. The lake became my Moms special place. We eventually got a “Tabin” (cabin/trailer) and put a huge deck on looking over 180 degree year round view. My Mom and I enjoyed coffee and had our many talks. My boys, were around 5yrs old and grew up with the boat. They are now 20 and sophomores in college. This past year was a whammy for us all. We lost Mom unexpectedly to a stroke. My boys went off to college. And I got a divorce. The lake, boat, and Tabin now represent the past great memories and the beginning of new ones. Tears of joy I guess remembering all those special moments. A new crew mate has joined my life and she is the best boat hand a guy could have. No more Captain Solo. I have a mate. And she loves and respects the boat and work it takes. It’s like a renewed life. Spent more time on the boat this summer than any other. Finally, it feels like a second home versus a rushed weekend get away. My boat, 2006, still looks new! Hard work and effort paying off for sure. I replaced my first ICV this weekend to stop the double beep warning. So proud of myself. But, I must have replaced the wrong one (starboard motor) b/c the beep still beeps. Must be the port side. Ha! It’s shocking to see old pics of me and my twin boys when they are little and I looked younger. We have all aged, but the Cobalt looks as good today as it did then. Doesn’t age at all! Anyway, happy summer to all my Cobalt friends. 2026 is already flashing by.
