Hey everyone,
Looking for some input. I’ve got a 2023 CS22 (160 hrs) with the V6-250, and I’ve come across a 2019 R3 (190 hrs) with the V8-300 that’s priced low at $60k. 1 The seller and I are talking about doing an even trade.
Would this be a worthwhile move given the age difference but extra power/size of the R3? Anything I should be cautious about with the 2019s? Part of my interest is that I’m frequently on the Puget Sound and my CS22 quickly starts to feel small out there, and the little bit of extra freeboard on the R3 would be nice. Would cost of ownership change much with the R3? Appreciate any advice from those who’ve run both models.

I like the R3 quite a bit, and would absolutely do that trade if it was in good shape. It's a bigger, better boat and engine all the way around, and I don't think the few years' difference in age will matter much if the R3 has been maintained.
It'll be interesting to hear what others say.

Maybe see what each are selling for used just to have an idea of the value of each. But if the R3 is what you want (I would want one over the CS) and you are ok with the value difference I would do it. Doubt a dealer would do a trade like that even and certainly not pay you. I feel a deal like this is about getting the boat you want and not so much the money. If it is about $$ you should sell the CS and buy an R3. The R3 is a lot more boat in my opinion. The CS being “sporty” and built for small lakes etc.

Used prices these boats are close to a horse a piece. The older R3 has the edge if I had to guess. Thanks for the insight! The R3 would be indeed be more comfortable on Lake Washington and Puget Sound.billk2632 wrote: Fri Sep 12, 2025 1:26 pm Maybe see what each are selling for used just to have an idea of the value of each. Another point to consider is that I have warranty left on my CS. The R3 is probably out.

As the proud owner of a 2019 R3, it seems like a good trade.
So good, in fact, that I would be worried about it. LOL
Our R3 turned 343 hours this past weekend and still runs like a top.
